4 Reasons to Purchase a Used RV

If you've decided you want to purchase an RV, you're already well on your way to not only adding adventure to your life, but also completely changing the way you travel. However, if you're struggling to decide whether to purchase a new or used RV, you're far from alone, as people wrestle with that decision all the time. 1. Less Depreciation

If you purchase a new RV, it's going to start depreciating in value the minute you take it off of the dealer's lot. New RVs typically lose about 20% of their value in the first year or two alone. However, if you buy a used one, the previous owner already had to deal with that initial depreciation, so it will hold its value better. That way, if you decide to sell it down the road, you won't be losing too much money.

2. Less Expensive

Quite frankly, a brand new RV is simply too expensive for the majority of people to afford. A used RV, however, can typically be bought for a much lower price, making it a much more realistic purchase for most people. Even if you can afford a new one, going with used instead will allow you to use that money on any number of other things.

3. More Options

As opposed to buying a new RV, which will limit you to whatever models have come out in the last year or so, buying a used RV will give you a wide variety of options. If you have makes and models of RV from many different years to choose from, you'll have a better chance of finding the specific RV that's a fit for you. 

4. Customizations

New RVs usually look nice, but that can actually have a downside, as you'll probably feel silly or guilty about customizing it or altering it much. With a used one, though, there's no reason you can't make whatever changes you desire, such as a new paint job, adding vinyl to the interior, or switching out the upholstery. 

As long as you do your research and confirm that the RV you're looking at is in good shape, you'll usually find that going with a used RV will be more beneficial in the long run than going with a new one.
